The Rapid River houses some of the largest brook trout in the U.S. The Middle Dam Pool and Chub Pool hold most of the fish in the upper stretch of the Rapid. Some nice fish have been taken in pools in between these two large pools, also. If you’d like to get away from the crowds, the lower portion of the Rapid can be your place of serenity while hunting for quality brook trout. The Rapid is home to some large landlocked salmon that are willing to slam dry flies when the hatch is on. Our fly fishing guides have had some magical evenings fishing dry flies for feisty 18″ salmon. The best conditions on the Rapid are from late May to late June and later in the season from late August through September.
